Nascar History

NASCAR has a very heart warming history that dates back to 1948 when NASCAR was established. Back in 1948 there were no race cars like we see today racing, but instead they had stock cars with no adjustments except a steel plate on the right tire if you wanted it. The sport that started back then is now once of the most popular and watched sports in the world. Millions of people have been to a NASCAR race and millions more will be going to one in the future.

In the early years of NASCAR the tracks were typically very rough and dirt, when you compare that to today that’s a big difference. The tracks today are much smoother and paved to perfection. The speeds were also much slower back then due to the fact they were driving stock cars. Now the speeds reach into the high 100’s and it makes for a much more exciting sport to watch and bet on.

Over the rich 50+ year history of NASCAR there have been hundreds of drivers which have proven there skills behind the wheel, but some stand out more then others do. Some of the most notable NASCAR racers over the years have been the Red Baron, Lee Patty, Richard Petty, Cale Yarborough, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson, with some of these drivers sponsored by online poker rooms like PokerStars.com. All of these racers have been past champions of the NASCAR season which is a difficult feat, but even more difficult is the fact most of them have multiple championships over there career.

The most famous race of the year is the very first race of the season and it’s the Daytona 500 and it’s been running since 1959. The race is a huge part of NASCAR history and many racers make there career by getting a win on the sacred racing track. Over the years many of the best NASCAR racers have won this race and it’s always one of the best races of every NASCAR season.

With so many races raced over the years of NASCAR some races may stand out to fans more then others. There have been some really close races over the years with the winner only winning by inches. You don’t see this often, but it’s happened numerous times in races including Talladega Speedway 1993 and 1994. The Talladega is another one of the best races of the NASCAR season and recently there was a movie based on the name of the racetrack.

With over fifty years of NASCAR history behind us it won’t be long before we’re all celebrating the 100th year of the sport. Crowds and viewers around the world continue to grow each year and the sport continues to pick up more fans. With the speed of the NASCAR’s put out on the racetrack today there isn’t a much more exciting sport to watch. It should be interesting where the sport heads now, but I don’t think they will be able to make many more changes. Cars are already racing at unreal speeds and I don’t think you’re going to see many changes to this sport as it wouldn’t help the sport any.
